The risk of incidents involving gas occurs across the international oil and gas industry, particularly when working in confined spaces. This course will give you a basic understanding of gas hazards and how these can be mitigated by testing and other control measures. The knowledge gained in this course will help you understand how, when and where to carry out the necessary gas tests prior to confined space entry activities. Training Objectives • Trainees understand the potential hazards of hazardous work and safe work procedures.• Participants understand the benefits and mechanisms for issuing a work permit (permit to work).• Participants are able to take hazardous gas measurements at their workplace and interpret measurement results, and are able to maintain gas detection equipment. Training Content: • Occupational Hazard Identification & Risk Assessment• Handling of hazardous materials• Fire Hazards & Countermeasures (basic of fire)• Risky work involving Gas Tester• Hazardous Area Classification• Personal protective equipment• Permit to Work• Energy / LOTO / Purging Gas insulation• Gas Testing & Detection• Know the Gas Detection Tool and its operating mechanism• Trouble shoothing and calibration of the Gas Detector tool test
Entering a confined space can be one of the most hazardous tasks undertaken if the proper safe procedures are not implemented correctly. This training will increase your knowledge of the hazards associated with entering confined spaces. Also, specific control techniques and the basic pre-entry procedures to safely perform work will be reviewed. Confined Space Training Objectives : • Definition of confined / closed space• Significant hazards• Rules and conditions for working in confined / closed spaces• Risk assessment procedure, HIRARC• Designing and implementing a Safe Work system (Work Permit)• Hazard Control, Process and Power System Isolation, Lockout / Tagout, and Purging• Gas detection including monitoring and calibration (Gas Tester)• Use of breathing apparatus• Confined / closed space entry procedures• Rescue techniques and Emergency procedures Training Content: • Confined / Closed Space Risk Assessment and Control List (Control Checklist) • Hazard Control, Isolation of Process and Power Systems, incl Lock Out / Tag Out and Purging • Confined / Closed Space entry procedures • Breathing apparatus • Training and Instructions (Drills) for working in Confined / Confined Spaces • Rescue Procedure, as well as Emergency Procedure • Modification of the Execution of the Way of Work to make it safer • Implementation of a Safe Work System and a Safe Work Permit System • Safety Reviews and Rescue Procedures • Record Keeping, Monitoring and Review
The risk of H2S exposure exists in many industries, including, but not limited to oil and gas, pulp and paper, construction, and mining. In workplaces where the possibility of H2S exposure exists, ALL workers should have H2S Awareness training. Workers who are at risk of exposure to H2S and/or workers with rescue responsibilities also require H2S Alive and workplace-specific training. Objectives Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to : • Participants understand the types of hazardous gases in the oil and gas drilling process.• Participants understand the health impacts of H2S gas.• Participants are able to identify hazardous gases in the workplace.• Participants are able to establish safe working procedures with H2S gas.• Participants are able to determine the right PPE in handling H2S gas.• Participants are able to control the situation in case of exposure to H2S gas.• Participants are able to perform first aid if there is exposure to H2S gas.• Participants are able to measure and interpret H2S gas measurement results.• Participants understand their duties and responsibilities as officers for handling H2S gas hazards. Training Content • Introduction to H2S Characteristics• H2S Hazards and Risks• Hazardous Area Identification• H2S Protection System and Personal Protective Equipment• Breathing Apparatus• Gas Detector• Control and Prevention of H2S Hazards in the workplace• Emergency Response• First aid
